Effects of Chuncheon Jade™ Nose Bridge of the Glasses on the Inhibition of Tearing and Astheonpia

Abstract

|
Objects : To evaluate the effects of the ChuncheonTM jade nose of glasses on the inhibition of tearing and asthenopia.
Methods : This study was designed with double method. Glasses with nose bridges made of ChuncheonTM jade were arbiturarily prescribed to sixty people and another sixty with glass nose bridge who had tearing and asthenopia from July of 2001 to October of 2001. The study was simultaneously done at two different hospitals (Kangnam St, Mary´s, Kangdong Sacred Heart). the examination was composed of visual acuity, refractive error, corneoconjunctival changes using slit-lamp, and Schirmer tearing test, tear break-up test, ocular pain and discomfortness, dryness for tearing at 7,30 days after wearing glasses.
Results : In a study group, there was no difference chang in objective test between before and after glasses. But in subjective test, the sense of visual acuity, dryness, injection was significantly improved. In a placebo group, there was also no difference chang in objective test between before and after glasses but in subjective test, the sense of dryness, ocular pain test between before and after glass but in subjective test, the sense of dryness, ocular pain was significantly improved.
Conclusions : The ChuncheonTM jade nose bridges of glasses improve the subjective symptoms such as sense of visual acuity, dryness, injection. But considering no difference between the subjective symptom in control and study group, we need more precious objective study on this result.
